Passover in my family is 100% gluten free (shoutout to my amazing mother! ❤️), and that includes our favorite sweet & sour meatballs. This classic dish, made with gluten free matzo meal, is a must-have at our Seder table. It’s tangy, a little sweet, and packed with flavor—perfect for Passover or any time of year!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground chicken
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup gluten free matzo meal
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
Sauce:
- 1 bottle (12 oz) Chili Sauce
-
1 cup grape jelly
Instructions:
1. Make the Meatballs: In a bowl, mix ground meat, egg, gluten free matzo meal, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Form into small meatballs.
2. Make the Sauce: In a pot, combine Heinz Chili Sauce and grape jelly. Stir over medium heat until smooth.
3. Simmer: Add meatballs, cover, and simmer on low heat for 30-40 minutes until fully cooked. Stir occasionally.
Whether you’re making them for Passover or any time of year (just swap the matzo meal for gluten free bread crumbs), I hope they bring the same warmth and flavor to your table as they do to ours. Chag Sameach! 💙🍽️
